2017/18 indoor cricket
« on: September 06, 2017, 09:49:57 PM »

This seems a crazy topic to post in September, as I know a lot of you will still be playing proper cricket!

I've had a text from the skipper saying our indoor league starts on 17th September! Is anyone else starting indoors this early?

My last outdoor league game is actually a fairly early finish this year, September 16th....

We run a junior indoor comp at work that starts this Monday for 4 weeks. Can't get enough Cricket, they have kids playing football pretty much all through the year so why not cricket

Start training for the uni season pretty much as soon as we get back in a few weeks.

Then in a month or two we start our season at Headingley (think we play over 3 weekends)

Probably won't get a look in as I'm not a great batsman and spinners tend to get battered indoors (and as one of the four people running the uni club this year, I can't show favouritism to myself!)

not sure but I think October up here, but I am officially retired after breaking both bones in my right forearm running into a wall.

We don't have any indoor cricket at our club. Shame really, as I quite enjoy it (and it swings indoors too :))

I've had some really great fun times playing indoor cricket over the years but I have noticed a big variation in the appetite for it depending where I happened to be living.

We did do a team a few years ago but it become a big struggle to put a team out... the club is in a different place with more young free and single (well no kids) about that also play midweek games in summer so it might be worth floating the idea again.

Definitely open to options and keen for something more local as the travelling was getting a bit much

First indoor game tonight and got off to a winning start

We batted first and posted 145 off 12.
My personal contribution was 10 off 4 balls (including a bomb first nut) before being run out with 9 balls of the innings left. As we had wickets in hand we were running regardless so I did my bit for the team!

In reply we restricted the opposition to 70 odd. I went for 13 off my 3 overs and ran someone out. Actually enjoyed a game of indoor cricket for once!

Next game isn't until 22nd October now though
