What footwear do you bat in?
« on: October 16, 2017, 01:29:13 PM »

After reading the thread on indoor boots, I just wondered what we all wear batting outdoors.  I have always batted in a pair of basic cheap white trainer (Nike), I did try a pair of tennis shoes but slipped over in the wet and was almost ran out.

Many would say concrete boots, but I actually prefer a slingback or a kitten-heel.

I use NB 4030 full spikes for batting and bowling - they work well for me.

Why do people use 1/2 spikes instead of full?

Adidas SL22 Boosts here. I convinced myself that my feet were getting a bit stuck and planted batting in standard spikes. I tend to drag my feet rather than plonk them so there may be some truth in it but more likely it is mental. The Boosts have more grip than a standard trainer, are comfortable and don't have too much of a raised heel like most normal trainers (especially Fattus's by the sound of it!).

I normally wear spikes or my TK steel caps! But am trying a pair of boosts this season to see how I get on.
Have heard mainly good things so got to try  :)

I've got some Nike half and half, not sure what style they are.  I got them at Vitas a few years, they are comfy and light.  Not that i stay in long enough to know if they are good for a whole innings!!!!

Adidas sl22s for most turf wickets , asics with athletic spikes for super rolled/flat/shiny pitches where most people wearing normal spikes go ice skating. Adidas response and ultraboost for astro/indoor nets .

Since ive started using sl22s i dont have a good spike for marking centre , so i now do the west indies thing .....use a bail and bat handle to hammer in my guard markings.

I used SL22 boost for about 3 games and gave up on it, slipped multiple times while batting on turf, lost traction and control on couple of run outs while keeping. I am back to wearing my old adidas spikes although theyre just about ripping from everywhere. Contemplating on getting the NEW BALANCE CK10 lime green ones once they come out.
