Personally, I'm a fan of this type of "major" blemish ... only because I have a bat which goes extremely well, has lasted me years, and has two of those "major" blemishes.
The grains are pretty straight in my opinion, the photo is not that great though :)

I agree at it wasn't a criticism of how the bat might perform, just of GM's grading seeming to be a bit off even by their own criteria!

I can see what you mean.  We find GM as a company generally very fair and with excellent back-up customer service, so I'd like to allow them a little leeway in their descriptions :)

Re: your comment about the GM NOW sticker ... good point, and actually I can't even remember whether it's on there or not ... will have to get my colleague to check tomorrow. Hopefully, it's just out pf the picture

The Palmist:
Can you ask your colleague  to find out how much it weigh as well please.

Aswani Cricket:
Ok, finally got this bat home ... it weighs 1250g = 2.12 approx, pickup index 3

There are a few people who have PM'd that are interested, but have only just weighed the bat now

Chalkie:
Excuse my ignorance but what is a "pick up index" and how does it work?
