I had posted a query to Laver & Wood about BMac bats. Here is their response and the picture of BMac profile which they make (min weight 2lb12oz).

"I cannot confirm or deny that we make Brendan McCullums bats. I can confirm the top bat in the image attached is the profile he uses at 2lbs 12ozs in Reserve grade willow (this  is the only that will have the density low enough to achieve this shape)."

Laver has a rounded toe whereas Mc's bat has a square toe. I don't think Laver makes bats for any pros - too expensive . "I cannot confirm or deny...". My behind! Just deny it!

@InternalTraining - Quite possible. But i guess they would have made bats for some pro level players. L&W is quite a popular brand. If they didn't make a bat for any pro, i wonder where does their popularity come from !!

Popularity comes from the simple fact that they make amazing bats.

Sounds silly but if you compare the first picture posted in this thread to that of the response from laver it doesn't really look too similar to me (opinion only) and if it is the case that it is his profile then my replica and the pictures of his bat from that final test cannot be the bat he uses regularly  ;)

I feel that maybe I have stirred the pot a little bit  :-[

Ive talked to a few pro players and they all use their sponsors bats. Kane Williamson changes his own weights himself (Well he did about 2 years ago). Id say BMacs would be made in India. The best bats from there would be equal to anywhere and are probably lighter and dryer, which the Pros care nothing about.

From the current pics which WalkingWicket posted i doubt its a L&W bat. For example the handle looks round and i don't see much of an offset edge. These are clear differences from the picture i posted. I guess, all that means is that at some point in BMac's career L&W may or mayn't have made a bat for him.

Not this again! Every bat maker at some point probably made a bat for a pro, whether its the one they actually use or not is completely different

I don't wish to disagree with procricket b3 nor laver for that matter .. so neutral stance is the best option .. ;)

There definitely used to be a fair few who used to get their bats from L&W. I think Jayasuria and other Sri Lankan players used to go to James to get bats made up. I also think that he's made bats for Tom Latham in the past. He's expensive, but when you're one of the best in the business, I don't think the professionals will care much about how much you cost! That being said, a lot of players are using Indian/GN Aus made bats these days, probably because they can be made to a larger spec at the same weight!

Dave is probably right about ss, I have no idea. I only know what rob said and he's not like some makers who splash names about or 'we make for pros'. Having. Said that, might be 3 years or so since Bmac had a few bats from Rob, I never actually asked when it was. I can only assume it was because he made Pumas top bats st the time etc.

Still, he might be able to tell you the specs if you asked.
