Right guys this proposal is going to be up and running in a matter of weeks (commencing on the 13/14th) so get your interest in now if you want to get involved. Its a good chance to have a go without committing wholly to buying tools! Wasnt sure where to put this topic so plumped for bat making!!
I have drawn up a little contract, i will list the basic points of the contract below, but the whole full contract will be sent and agreed to before rental can take place. Nothing nasty or tricky, just covers everyone in particular matter!
The tools in the package include:
Drawknife
Flat base Spokeshave
Curved Base Spokeshave
Smoothing Plane
I also have the lower grade part made clefts to try your hand on first time around, so PM me if interested and they can be sent out to you.
The main points are:
Details - Name, address and contact details must be provided
Pricing - £20 for a 2 week (14 whole days) slot rental price, this should be ample time to make a bat, if not a few if all is in place before the tools arrive.
Postage - It is YOUR priority to pay postage onto the next person, we suggest that you do it via a recorded mothod as it is the sender who is liable for the posting onto the next person and so you who pays the penalty for none arrival (this method decreases costs as postage back to me then out to another would only increase the price considerably).
Deposit - a £30 deposit will have to be put down before hand and will be fully returned on safe arrival to the next person.
Lateness - There will be a 6 day slot left between your rental slot and the next persons, it must arrive within these 6 days, again this should be ample if posted on time, a £2 a day late penalty will arise for each day after the expected arrival date. This will be taken from the original deposit. This is only to be fair to those after yourselves!
To begin with I will not be accepting members with a very low post count (i mean very new members) simply because its too much of a risk to run! However there arent many around!
A lot of this may seem menacing but its pretty standard and just what we all take for granted only i've written it down! I know there would be no issues and we are all understanding people so its cool :D
......and finally, Enjoy and Good Luck!!! Post pics, reviews and keep us all informed!
Cheers

Smart lad you are Sam :D

Maybe worth looking into getting them returned to you once in a while or arranging for them to be sharpened. Few clefts down they are gonna need to be honed back to sharpness again. Sounds good other than that.

Good luck with this seems a great idea on this forum with the interest in bat making

Is there any package of buying too?
Yeah there sure are, will be advertising them next weekend for sale but feel free to jump in early.
-
How much are we talking for alow grade part made cleft?
-
Around 60 including postage. But weight dependant (for postage)
Meaning that including everything you'll need you'll probably have your bat and experience of bat making for around £85, which is around about the worth of the tools etc etc!

If I pay the rental and for the cleft can you make me a bat in two weeks ? I would still need the work shop and all the other bits... :)

What grade would a low grade cleft be?
-
2/3 I'd have thought Spanky...
