Bats / Re: Round handle vs oval and semi oval handles
« Last post by Psi on Yesterday at 12:14:56 AM »
I would agree that oval handle base feels much better and gives a lighter pick up. See below for the wide variations of handle shape on some bats :

The Warsop in particular has a very large handle and quite extreme ovalling and is very comfortable to grip.

I would like to get the Mrf built up to have oval handle. Can this be done at home or is it a job for a specialist repairer? The GN in the pictures seems to have been built up with padding and the feel is very successful.

I find that the shoulders can be neatened up quite easily with a sharp drawknife. If you clamp the bat into your bench vice at a comfortable height, then you can shave off the shoulder area nicely. Best of luck with it anyway!

Both he and Warwickshire were happy for him to remain in his current role for the World Cup but England cricket decided it would be counterproductive if that happened so they agreed to allow him to leave once the Windies trip ends.

Think this has slipped under the radar but Paul Farbrace has joined WCCC for the start of the season. Big big loss for England as for me he's more valuable than Bayliss. Rather surprised he went before the World Cup

Windies ODI squad has been decimated by injuries. Evin Lewis, Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul and the suspended Shannon Gabriel

John Campbell, Carlos Brathwaite and Sheldon Cottrell the replacements.

Don't see Windies offering much.

Roy 110 Retired off 82 balls! Not bad.

Love how cleanly he hits the ball.

There was still 25 overs left when he retired!

It could have been carnage had he been allowed to bat on..........

The ICC rankings would suggest otherwise.  There are certainly specialist - Pujara for instance - but they are anomalies.  And certainly the modern game is moving in that direction.  Go back to the  90s and England stuffed the squad with bits and pieces alrounders who supposedly were limited overs specialists.  Move forward 2 decades and the test and odi squads contain many of the game players

Crap then, crap now.. yep, white ball players don’t make good red ball players.. who’d have thought
