There have been a few articles about this on cricinfo and other places. When he started doing this his trigger put him nicely side on.. slightly less so now

He does straighten up before the bowler bowls. Bit stupid though

Once he has triggered he is in a much more "normal" position, slightly closed off. Just the opposite of the great crab, Shiv Chanderpaul!

Maybe he feels he needs a trigger to get his feet moving. So he starts in a closed off stance, then moves his back foot so that he is in a classical stance side on.  However in the video he is still closed off.

Didnt he say he did it to try something different to put bowlers off their line, it worked a couple of times so stuck with it

What's wrong with it? Because no-one else does it? Find something that works for you, and go with it. There's no set in stone technique or stance

Whatever your opinion, Doesn't mean we can't discuss it. It is a forum after all.

I can only think he was losing his feet or head somewhere in his previous trigger so has moved to this to regain balance.

Anybody have footage of before the new stance and after?

"Video not available in your country" but I saw the highlights and the _strange_ stance. There must be a dozen coaches in Australia who can help this guy. He also got out pretty cheaply.

If all else fails, Bailey should seek help from John Harmer - he can fix anything.

Yup and that was Mr Badgers opinion, and part of the discussion.

For what it's worth, I can see the thought process in the putting the bowler off kind of thing, but surely that would only work when it was used on occasions not all the time, like a slow ball from a bowler for example.

I can't see it putting bowlers off anymore though. They will all be aware he now does it, so become used to it. Yeh it's different to everyone else, but wouldn't have an effect on how bowlers need to bowl at him, nothing changes

To me it shows that Bailey is working on his game and putting thought into improving. Whether it works or not we will have to see.

He has thought about it and is trying something different. Kudos to him.

Standing in strange places to try and put the bowler off isn't anything new, is it.

King Ravi, ODI legend, used to take guard on off peg so his leg stump wasn't covered towards the end of an innings. I remember he took Umar Gul to the cleaners doing it in one game.
