for me the whole dont get a duck thing is psychological, if i know i can get 1 then i feel like im off and away.  Its like they say, to get a hundred you have got to get 1 first.

There is a definite stigma attached to a duck, I got my first for two years at the start of the season and, despite it being a bit of a snorter, it really annoyed me and still does now. That said, my seasonal targets have never included things like ducks or drops... it just seems a bit negative to me to be worrying about that stuff in the first place?

Id much rather get a duck than get 20, If I get to 20 im in and set and should be looking at a 100, simple.

Sods law!!!  After posting on here - left a straight one and got a duck!!!  Oh well got to press on now and make sure i get to 800 runs.  And as someone said on saturday as i was walking off "if its good enough for mike hussey, its good enough for you!"

Made me feel slightly better!

Personal preference, I'd MUCH rather get 20 than 0, especially considering where I bat! But I suppose people who bat top 4 would rather go on and make a score...

Longy - ditto - 3 ball blob on Saturday, though not at all happy with the umpiring decision.

just met half my target on sunday - maiden century. now need to press on for 1000 runs in the season.
Should be manageable as i have 478 from just saturday games, 3 junior games and 2 sundays so far. No more exams so have 2 more junior games and all sat/sun games till end of season :)

Need 73 runs to get 2000 for my club which should take less than 100 innings (overall) and 93 to beat last years total of 897 runs :)

I made my 2000'th run for my club earlier this season (took 80 innings.) Play cricket does make it a load easier to keep an eye on your stats. I have hardly played any games this year - so far 6 out of 12 league games, but unbelievably have hit my 550th run and 2nd league hundred target after last weeks game.
it is funny how writing about technique and batting generally has helped focus the mind on my own game (that and wanting to make every innings count due to not knowing when my next game will be...)

Just managed 500 runs so far (only saturday cricket) averaging about 45 as of last saturday.  Do you guys count all competitions or is it just league cricket you measure yourself on?

personally I count everything - but the only stats I really care about are from league cricket as this is the highest standard I play. So a bit of both
