Lost by about 40 runs today. Took 4-47 off my 8 overs and backed it up with 70 runs. The old body is feeling pretty rough tonight

Unlucky with the result but personally that's a fantastic game well done.

Missing summer and playing cricket already...

:( :( :(

Just wanted to let it out! That's all... as you were...

I feel you

Had a net last night and middled a few nice drives. Bowled on the sweep, how topical

Looking forward to April

My 2018 season. I'd netted for about 6 sessions, was asked to play for the 3rds. I hadn't played for about 15 years, opened twice getting exactly 25 in each innings, played with a Dixon Kashmir willow plank which probably didn't help matters either. pleased with my performance though considering the lengthy absence. will net through the winter and have since got my hands on some decent willow, A CA extra power, A Slazenger V500 and a Hunts county Insignia which I'll try out in the nets and see which suits best.

My 2018 season was such a mess. Played 4 games I think in between my malaria symptoms returning, all midweek. Pretty sure I ran myself out comedically each time... Scored a 20 odd at some point. I really, really underestimated how much malaria and typhoid hit me physically. Like beyond the bravado... Probably shouldn't have played! Looking forward to a fresh start.

Things have gone downhill over here. After being top with 2 wins from 2, we are now well down the ladder into fifth having lost four in a row. All of them have been bad losses as well.

I haven't taken a wicket in two weeks- last week the other Brit dropped an absolute dolly, bloke then went on to get 50 and take the game away from us with some horrible smears, yesterday I only got 3 overs because we had another shocker with the bat and only scored 108. We have collapsed badly each of the last four weeks- yesterday I got 5 from 23 trying to rebuild and make things tough before nicking to slip from a non spinning off spinner.

I feel good with the bat in the nets, and the ball is coming out well all the time when im bowling, however in matches I keep finding ways to get out just as I get settled. So far I have sliced a drive to cover, nicked behind to the keeper, nicked to slip, picked out square leg to perfection with a nailed pull and dragged on a slower ball beamer. I feel like runs are just around the corner, hopefully next weekend!

The new B3 has already split in the toe and up the face, and as far as I have found the middle isn't particularly responsive. Maybe I just need to be patient and let it open up a bit, but shots that I would expect to be boundaries from the connection are stopping well short, even when hitting square (the straight boundaries are big because we are playing hard wicket on Aussie Rules ovals every week). If it doesn't open up I will be really disappointed. I'm going to get a team mate to try it to see what they think in the nets.

Was it prepared properly? Shouldn't be splitting after that small amount of use.

Regarding the cricket. I would say keep your batting simple, limit your attacking shots to the ones you know you can nail. Be selfish, bat time.

I can't offer bowling advice as I am awful.

And remember - its going to be bloody cold in the UK by the middle of this week so be happy you are not here. Enjoy yourself and make the most of it    :)  I hope you are doing some stuff away from the game aswell

I'm working pretty much full time so doing plenty besides the cricket.

I made a technical change to work on the extra bounce, so I'm meeting the ball much further down the track and it's working but I'm getting no value for the shots I'm playing. Because we've scored so few runs I'm having to go and defend and try to bat time just to scrape us to a semi competitive total, which is something I've never been good at but am working on in the middle at the moment!

I had it run in at b3 and whilst working on my ace bats I did some more work on it to make sure.

Aside from work - go and see some of the country!

Sounds complicated. Does meeting the ball further down the track help on bouncy wickets? I'm not so sure.

If it's full - drive. If it's short - cut. If it's in between leave or defend. Maybe sounds simple but seems to work for me.

Unless you've got a coach or experienced player working with you it might prove difficult to make technical adjustments mid season.

I find it's helping me get over the bounce and getting my front foot into better positions. I spoke with the best bat at the club, who's the best player there, about what I was trying, as well as discussing it with the Ansty overseas end of last season.

Been put learning to fish, plenty of bbqs and also a healthy dose of sun burn on my back...

Going through a massive heat wave in central Queensland so had to play in 40+ degree heat today.

Managed to bowl the team out for 86 and we chased it down in 15 overs. Got figures of 5-10 off 8 overs so had a good day in the office.

Going into Xmas we have now had nine rounds. Won the first two, and apart from a wash out in round seven have lost the rest. Yesterday oppo for 244/9, bowled us out for 140. I got 4/50 with three catches dropped, then bowled by a big in swinger after being told the bowler was straight up and down.

In total I've got 12 wickets at about 20, but haven't bowled well. My batting is really frustrating me as I'm hitting well in training, then in games when I keep finding new ways to get out. I shouldn't be averaging single figures but that's the situation I've found myself in.

T20 rounds today. First game won by 1 run, I contributed 1 run, a wicket, a catch, a run out and a no ball for kicking the stumps over.
Second game we got flayed around the park to concede 187. Personally 0/33 from 3, bowled awfully tbh. Batted 3, promoted from 7 first game, got 61 from 39 as we chased it down with an over to spare. Put on 103 with the other overseas, was run out by inches in the 13th, before our number 5 launched 3 sixes in an over when we needed 48 from 5.

Last game, batted 3 and got 12, set the other undefeated team 162 to win. Got two wickets in 3 overs as we won by 6 runs.

After a shocking run in the league, going into t20 finals undefeated is a big surprise!

Plumbed a new career low today in the league... Oppo batted and got 309/6 from 50. 0/38 from 7 for me, dropped catch behind and a sitter that mid off just didn't take one step backwards to catch. Took two catches at point which was a positive. We were rolled for 73. We lost by 236. I've lost by 200 before, but that time I top scored. This time I nicked behind for a 4 ball duck driving a wide half volley from a guy who would make Ansty 3 at best. Even as I swung the bat I was calling myself all sorts of names. We have accepted that we won't make finals, pity this result is the day before t20 finals!
