I don't know if you have neutral umpires in your Saturday games, but if you don't, I predict that if you are moved up to bat in the top 5 you will be triggered the first time the ball hits your pads.

tbf I'm normally the one triggering them, I don't want to give them out but they keep planting their pads in front of middle stump :(

Thank you lads, it's reassuring to know it's not just me overreacting!

I think a lot of the problems comes from the fact that last year we were scraping 11 together, and had 3/4 older club members/parents playing who didn't want to bat or bowl and just came along to play with their son/ help the team out and get out for the afternoon. Whereas this year we have 13/14 competent players wanting a game most weeks. which means someone always has to miss out. We're a very young team and i'm often the 4th oldest at 21, with the rest being 17-20.

I spoke to one of our other players whose returned this season after being on contract at a rugby club, and he's said that he's noticed that i have been getting a game as an all-rounder who isn't doing either discipline! We've both been frustrated this year as we constantly try to arrange training, but only do so about every 3 weeks as people say they can't be bothered to train. We've lost 3 very close games this season and can't help but feel if we trained regularly we would be alright.

I've decided that i'll give it a couple more weeks to see what happens, and if it doesn't improve then i will spend the rest of my season playing for my mates Saturday friendly side and then probably move to a big club a few miles down the road as they have 4 saturday and 2 sunday sides. Will all depend on if i can pass my driving test though.

Having a good season myself personally but the match this Saturday was a cracker going right down to the last over.

For those who like match reports I've written one on our website at http://www.kilvecc.co.uk/kilve-chase-brilliantly-during-scorcher-at-broadway-horton/

Just because its perceived  as a high standard doesnt mean players should have to cop non games .. its not pro Cricket !

Ideally yes , but i was referring to /thinking of the oz grade system whereby players (not teams) are promoted/dropped on a match to match basis , in which case it can be unavoidable sometimes (and all players are told at all clubs that that is the way things are and if you dont like it then play subbies , park (village) etc).
In different/ english systems of teams being promoted/dropped etc then the team should ideally be selected in a balanced way where all players are called on to contribute , and if a player is unlikely to contribute they should either be given more of a go or should have been placed in a lower division team so they get a go .

Our final group game last night in the county T20, before the game we already knew we had made the finals days which for a very small club is a great achievement seeing as the other 3 sides are all EAPL sides or Div1.
Won the toss and batted and we made 189-6 against a decent attack and arguably our best team batting display, personally after batting myself at 9/10 each week as skipper I batted 4 and for 39 from 26 balls

In reply there 3 league batters showed there class in a 87 opening stand inside 8 overs with some lovely straight hitting, 1 retired as per the rules at 50 the other caught in the deep, no3 finished 47* but we restricted them through the middle overs with spinners doing a great job and they ended 176-4

4 wins from 4 as T20 skipper and hopefully a good day out at finals day

Fantastic win for us today.

We started at 11.30 and lost the toss. The oppo unsurprisingly decided to bat first, making 279-8 off their 45 overs. We then had to go out for 6 overs before a long break for the football!

We watched England win and had some lovely ploughman's teas, then went back out after a nearly 2 hour interval.

One of our openers made a good 80 odd, with our number three making 60 odd. Our number 5 made a quickfire 81* to take the game away from the opposition and we won by 5 wickets with 1.2 overs to spare.

I'm currently being sick from sun stroke and or dehydration, but I'd go through it all again willingly to relive that day. England won the football, we won a tight chase and the team spirit was simply superb.

I love cricket

Quite a few cancelled games appearing and a few declarations including one literally without facing a ball.. lots of teams with 7/8/9 men .. shame to devalue one league game but happens.

We lost sadly but more down to playing badly than the football or oppos. Meh

Our captain opened the batting. He was out for 9 in the 23rd over. 1 run was a leg bye not given by the umpire. 4 more was off of the toe which trickled last the keeper for 4. No wonder we lost as we didnt score enough runs. Totally tragic.

We played a sub strength side in an early start and had a bizarre situation where one of their umpires walked off at 3pm (we had maybe 8 or 9 overs still to bowl and they were 9 down), and they only had kids to replace him - one of whom had been removed from the standing umpires end earlier for turning down a stone cold LBW on the basis that it was going down leg, when the guy shaped to run it to third man off middle and off!

Then proceeded to stand in the clubhouse for two hours and watch 10% of the football as there were too many people in to get anywhere near the screen..

Decent result though, we bowled them out for 149 and knocked them off 3 down. I had a decent game, getting 3-25 then opening and being 59* with 15 runs still to get, only to get bowled by a grubber that I think actually rolled along the pitch!! Cost me a double haul of extra fantasy points for 60 runs and the not out :(
