Opposition conceded so once again got a game in the player pool. On arrival, skipper asked me whether I batted or bowled, said prefer a bat so fielded while the opposition were bowled out for just 42. Tea was decent but as I am going into the changing room assuming I am opening or going in 3, skipper tells me I am batting at 8.  In fairness, if he had put me at No.5, I wouldn't have got a bat as target was reached in less than 10 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets but that's one club I won't be pooling for again.

My season just keeps going downhill. Since my 43 at Billingshurst I have scored a grand total of 1 run in the league. Billingshurst game was in June. I've had two games where I didn't bat, 1 last weekend, a 3 ball duck two weeks ago and a first baller today. First season ever my batting average has been so appalling- was 10.5 before today's goldie. Batted 11 on a damp track, been told not to hit through it but instead try to drop and run. Ball kicked up as I tried to get in behind it, caught by cover diving forward off the splice. Then wicketless in 9 good overs and took a blinder at short fine leg off a full blooded pull shot. Unfortunately we lost again. Last game we won was in June and we are massively in the mix for relegation with 3 of the top 4 to play.

Personally very frustrated as I came into this season hitting the ball better than I have for years, and have got about 60 runs all season as I have been stuck in the tail. I know I have so much more to contribute, but I haven't had a chance to, and the lack of opportunity has led my form to nosedive. Currently I can't grumble about being 11 as I'm not scoring runs. Slight concern is that my club in Aus have a link to my stats so will see that I've had a lean spell.

Recently I haven't bowled a lot either. Today I bowled my maximum of 9, but the week before I got 4 late on, before that 1 and then off again despite creating chances. The overseas, who is injured and just coaching, has been quite annoyed that I've been under used, as have I.

Managed to run off the middle of my bat to slip to complete a miserable year of Cricket. I can see why people give up as its not much fun.

I enjoy netting and training but hate the games. Meh, only 3league games to go and I can enjoy losing another 2 stone, fitness and netting. Next year if its anywhere less than 600 league runs Im dropping to the twos for a  seaason of dinky 50s

We managed to beat the rain yesterday to win a crucial game.
A fairly comprehensive win too, oppos batted first and we skittles em for 74,
We knocked em off before the rain came for a couple of wickets

I wont post my figures etc, but well chuffed with my season so far, first year Ive got into the league bowling avgs in over 40yrs of playing, and battings not too bad so far
Nice to be playing with a really good bunch of lads, amazing the difference it makes to your game

At 6pm The rain came and probably saved the divisions leaders from defeat chasing 179  they were 68 for 6.

Another frustrating one for me as I seem to have become a serial bottler, last few weeks Ive got to 20 and then got myself out.

We bowled first. The oppos 1st team didnt have a game so their overseas and another batsman dropped down 4 divisions to play (make of that what you will). We run the overseas out early on, and managed to restrict them to 180 odd. Should have been about 50 less, as I had their batsman who got 70 plumb LBW in my second over. Their umpire had been triggered LBW by his own teammate earlier and had then decided that the LBW law didnt apply when he went out to umpire. (It was also his son, so evidently he wasnt giving it out, despite it hitting middle & leg) its also worth noting that he had a temper tantrum when he was wided twice in one of his overs! Ended up going for 30 off 6 overs. Not helped by the fact 12 (yes, 12!) of those runs came as a result of miss fields!

Our opener was out early in the chase, leaving me and our opener to put on a 50 partnership. The oppo for some reason had a sweeper out both sides so I was literally defending into the gaps and running easy singles. Then I managed to middle one straight back at the bowler who grabbed it about an inch of the floor. At 70-1 the chase looked good, but then our middle order just didnt fire, and we fell short by about 20 odd, not helped by the fact we had 3 genuine tailenders today. Promotion is out of the question now barring a miracle, but we need one more win for a club record season (reformed in 2009)

On a side note, after being pissed off getting out to a medium pacer who was doing nothing with it, I checked my phone and realised I had won 500 on a bet. Think Ill treat myself to a new pair of gloves as mine split today after 3 years of use.

Our first team are all but relegated no susprises when we have lost all of our quicks either to uni gfs or other clubs. Cant expect to stay one league below an ECB prem league with a 64 year opening the bowling. After a bad start averaging in the single figures have managed to get the average up to mid 20s. The highlight of our season was winning the midweek 20/20 against our local rivals batted three and batted through for 76* finished up with MOM and Batsmen of the day. 4 league games left and realistically need to win all 4 to avoid the drop..

After my first 50 for my club last weekend I followed it up with my 1 and only century ever this weekend. The opposition was not the strongest and only had 9 but we were 4 down for about 50 runs and on the verge of self destruct so I was pleased to dig in, concentrate on working the ball into the gaps and keep the score ticking over.

The opposition were a brilliant example of how to maintain a fun environment in the field and I have to say a young lady (who plays Staffordshire level junior cricket) took an unbelievable catch on the long off boundary but unfortunately as she held it she took one step too many and put her foot over the rope.... It deserved my wicket and it would have been a catch just about anyone I have ever played with would have been proud off... ok I wasn't out but with ability like that such a young age it was great to watch.

we bagged all the points but more than a full win off the promotion spots at the moment.. but still have the top 3 to play so fingers crossed.

We played with 10 as nobody had told the 11th man he was playing... schoolboy or what!?

Played 2nds due to poor availability this week.  Won the toss to bowl first.  Bowled nicely and got a big wicket to get a guy out for 57.   They set 234 for 7.  Went out to open the batting after tea in light drizzle and faced the quickest bowler I've seen in a couple of years, he was all ego so it was nice to tap one through extra cover for 4, and then smack a short one over point.  Rain got worse, came off, then went back out when it was STILL raining for one over, drove the bowler for two 4s over his head and then went off again!  After a load of fannying around, captains shook hands.

Very enjoyable and damp... 37 not out with 7 boundaries out of 56/0 off 15.  Partner was on 8! #hoggingthestrike

Now the club's leading run scorer this season... duck next week then!!!

Won the toss and bowled on a damp green track today. The oppo racked up 220 thanks to their overseas and a first teamer. Only let 2 byes past with the gloves and also took a catch which isnt bad considering Im Ill and was seeing about 3 balls for most of the game!

Then opened the batting (as our captain put it: get it out of the way before youre sick) made 15 off 51. I faced about 30 dot balls in a row and felt so weak I couldnt hit it off the square. I was literally trying to get myself out but I wasnt even good enough to do that today! The oppo were pissing themselves at how badly I was struggling, before finally my partner put me out my misery and ran me out! We fell about 100 short

Also saw a hilarious temper tantrum from their grumpy wicketkeeper when he let through 4 byes down leg side off my batting. It was only a foot or so down leg, but he was adamant it was wides not byes and kept moaning at our umpire! Ive never seen a keeper have a breakdown and ask for an extra run to be added just to protect his keeping figures! It was equally pathetic and funny to see a grown man throw a strop over letting byes through!

I hate it when the bowler gets away with filth down the legside.

We won again today which pushed us into second in the league. Our home pitch has been a little suspicious recently so won the toss and bowled. We had them 38-6 and a guy we dropped 5 times got a ton and they finished on 190.

Chased it down for 4 wickets in 31 overs. Odd side in that they have 2 or 3 of the best players in the league but they are really struggling.

Opened the batting for the 5th time and got 27 in a partnership of 110. Averaging 30 opening, which is no different from at any point in last 5 years, boringly consistant.

2 games to go and we are second, leading third by 4 points. We have them next week and the. the run away winners the week after. A win is only option next saturday. Its frustrating because we had two away games rained off when everyone else played at the bottom two clubs. Really frustrating if that costs us promotion.

Squeeky bum time. Club has some exciting opportunities for new players and a second ground for next year but i feel it will be easier to pull off from another division up.

Lightning does strike in the same place twice as having taken my first catch of the season (at first slip) last Sunday, I stood in exactly the same place today and took another catch off the same bowler. Mind you I am dropping the next one off his bowling as he then had the cheek to complain that about my catching style. The match itself was washed out during the tea break.
