i put white medical tape around the handle first, then do it by hand with wood glue, normally works fine

Here's a couple from Australia.
This one's an Icon Signature, purchased for $50AUD with a cracked toe due to very little preparation and yorkers which is a terrible combo. I glued and clamped the toe, re-surfaced and then put some retro County 747 stickers on it. I didn't take any pictures of the damage, if anyone's interested I'll take some of the repairs.

This one is a Kookaburra Surge 2000 which I purchased on sale, but I didn't like the balance. It was 2 11 so I shaved the edges a bit and attacked it with the spoke shave for some concaving to get back to 2 8. Again, slack with the 'during' pictures, but here's how it ended up with some retro Symonds Super Tusker livery. I still need to wax it and finish knocking it in, but for a cheap bat it's got a great middle so I expect it to be quite good after it opens up.

I've got my eye on another project bat at the moment, there's a cheap B3 three stripe for sale which I might rebirth into a Ulysses tribute bat from the late 90's.

Great work. Where do you get the stickers from?

I have been completing a few refurbs over the last year and not been taking any before/after pictures so I thought i'd start trying to remember to take some.

This was the hardest so far by a mile. Should have just binned the bat really but the guy loves the bat and says it holding up well in the nets.

Some grain structure on that legend.

I always find it a struggle to remember to take before photosm usually just to eager to get started I guess.

That Legend is a real looker, but the repair job on the Macer looks fab. If that'd been mine it would have been on the fire.

Haven't got full shots but this scrubbed up fairly well, other than some serious sticker shadows.

I had one of those a couple of months ago direct from Uzi himself. Scrubbed up really well and put the newer Uzi stickers on it. You can always get the new stickers to go on it.

Did you just contact UZi about buying stickers?

Hi mate, the County stickers were off Ebay. I got a local sticker guy to knock up the Symonds ones, next time I'll get him to make the blue a bit brighter on the face side because it comes up nearly black against the willow.

Forgot the before photo, my bad. Bought this bat second hand and had it a few years but never quite got on with the balance and thin handle, despite it being a nice stick. Full strip down, refurb, a little weight reduction and rebind with thicker twine and it's ready for a net:

I picked this one up at training last week, our keepers beloved GN E41 Scoop. It's had more hits than Elvis and has seen a number of repairs over the years but he loves it and was heartbroken when a large chunk was removed from the toe by a sharpish Yorker.

So I stripped off the many layers of tape and removed the toe guard, as you can see it's lived a hard life. One crack runs right through the toe and there's heaps of others starting.

Given the extend of the cracking I elected to stick a 10mm dowel across the toe in an attempt to bind it all together, then glued up all the other cracks and clamped in the missing chunk with a liberal coating of Gorilla Glue.

Gave it a quick sand and put on a face sheet, ready to go for Finals on Saturday. Not the nicest job but I only had 24hrs to finish it so that he could use it in the match, unfortunately it seems that I have 'broken' it because he made a duck fishing outside off stump.
