Not sure how, as the article suggests, it was common sense to let him come back.  He is the last person to be able to take offence at someone else sledging on the cricket pitch.

Warner' s reputation in the game is ruined but it does make you wonder how some of the players from previous generations would be viewed if judged by today's standards.  Warner' s behaviour is appalling but it is nothing compared to the cheating, hypocrisy and bullying - both of players and officials - that Grace and Bradman practiced as a matter of course but both have been subjected to a widewashing exercise after their careers came to an end.

I suppose the exposure is a lot closer these days, and cricket as a game is on its backside,,,,total tools like warner do it little good with their on field antics
I personally dont think warner is the only one guilty of this sort of thing,,,its endemic in a lot of teams and a lot of sports
Its been allowed to escalate, and become the norm

The only ones who can change this , are the ones that run sports

This

Weve all said Warner deserves it but in reality.. whoever says anything is equally as guilty however they are let off. Clean the game up or itll continue to go down . Simple solution really

To explain: David Warner walking off in protest at being sledged is like a boxer walking out of the ring complaining that his opponent has punched him in the face

Reports suggesting Phil Hughes brother used Phil in one of his sledges. For an Aussie thats low, using your dead brother to sledge someone. Pretty pathetic

As for the aussies changing, Clarke tried to change the sledging culture post Hughes death but that didnt last long.

If that didnt change anything nothing will. I see smith and warner both walking straight back in the team.

No one really comes out of this great. Must be a tough thing to hear but wasnt it Warner allegedly who was leading the comments to Bairstow in the ashes about his dads suicice?

I remember that being said (about Bairstow) That's supposedly when (some of) the Aussies were at their worst for sledging.
But that's half the problem! Even if DW is doing his best to turn over a new leaf and become a better person, the damage was done over the past few years! He has previous and people he has sledged and been nasty to (which is probably a generious number of people he has played against) do have long memories!

^ To redeem himself, he should become a poster-boy for anti-sledging.

I believe the line reported in the papers were that if I had a useless ginger (No Swearing Please) for a son, I'd have killed myself, too, and constantly asking bairstow if he was mentally weak like his dad, or bottle or like his dad, etc etc.

Pretty standard stuff from an aussie. Literally nothing is off limits.

Yes.. cricketers are famed for their bottle.. maybe take a trip and get a taste of IEds, snipers and having mates die in front or in your arms.. Cricket doesnt take bottle.. its just all BS people dream up to excuse being rude to others when the social norm is that theyd not be able to do it
