Doing shoulders with a jigsaw is pretty simple, but yes the key is definitely marking the cut out and making sure you're happy with what you're doing before you start!

Hard to say really as I added some concaving as well.
Maybe 1 to 1.5 ounces, but that's pure guesswork

The jigsaw was very easy, I wish I'd done it that way first time round. You live and learn though, eh?

The main tip I'd have is what @Northern monkey told me. Make sure you mark up and know exactly what you're doing to the shoulders before cutting. Cut the curve in first and tidy up with the drawknife after (if only I'd asked him before I started!)

cheers, that is probably where i went wrong, i went straight from cutting to sanding - didn't think to use the draw knife after cutting - will do that the next time - many thanks!
