How much pressure must Archer be under!, it seems England's hopes have been entirely pinned on the young lad. I hope he at least has realistic expectations of himself and doesn't take it too hard if things don't go according to plan.

I can't see what difference a green seamer will make though. Both batting lineups look shaky, although England would be more concerned with theirs, and both sides have the bowling to exploit those conditions but Australia have the better spinner.

If it's flat at least it won't be over in 3 days, and after Joe Roots criticism of the pitch that was prepared for the Ireland test Id say the groundsman will prepare something pretty batsman friendly.

I don't think Jofra is under any pressure at all. He comes in, bowls a bit, bats a bit, fields a bit and has a fun time.
The batters, however, they need to feel the pressure.

I think bairstow is lucky to be in this squad even if the chances of him being replaced by Foakes are..or were..nil.

Roy and Burns, whether people think they are good enough or not must be given a chance, they need games under their belts and no one is banging down the door to be picked.

I just wonder if for England, if they wanted too, pick Curran in the side as well as a spinner, could continue to pick two keepers batting as low down as they do.

You wonder if they might have too choose one in the long term

At one point on TMS during the Ireland test a couple of commentators (I forget who) were actually discussing on air whether they should write an anti-Bairstow piece to make sure he got runs in the Ashes haha.

Australia have rested Pattinson for Lords. Hazlewood or Starc will replace him

Yep always on the cards this with two quality bowlers on the sidelines, if the wicket is similar to the Ireland game I actually think Hazlewood would be a better selection-he can just move it enough from a good length.

Also on the cards was todays news Moeen takes a break from cricket

One of the most likeable players but clearly out of form and low on confidence.

It may be a hard road back without his batting to fall back on. He may come again but Im still of the view with so many allrounders in the side we play the best specialist spinner and keeper.

Sympathy for Ali thou, its a tough game when confidence leaves you in club cricket let alone top level.

Looked like he needed something from the last test, maybe it was a break. Hopefully he comes back refreshed and on form.

Any word on if this weather is supposed to clear at any stage or if it's looking like a write off?
