Bit bank holiday custom shaping for a customer who wanted a similar shape to the one I shaped for myself. 2lbs 10oz and bbig as possible, low middle specified. Finished just over 2lbs 9oz, so will be almost 2lbs 10oz with stickers and scuff, 1 - 2mm of concaving. It's a monster!!

Nice!  any chance of some shots of the concaving?

Would the cleft needed to make this bat/specs be considered rare?

Yeah it was a light cleft for sure, you don't get a lot that light obviously

Very different one finished off tonight. A mate asked me to make a copy of his V1200. It's about 0.5oz heavier at 2lbs 14oz but picks up so light.

Not my usual style obviously, so really enjoyed this one and some funny angles to consider. They do make em how they used to after all! 😆

Let me know your thoughts....

Nice. Used to love a Slazenger back in the day, before Mike Ashley bought them and they started churning out crap.

Seems weird to see a new bat with edges that are nowhere near 20mm, let alone 40mm!

Thanks mate, yeah it's a shame they're not still strong really. Were made in Horbury at one stage, pretty local to me.

It did feel alien taking the edge that low, it's about 22mm. The toe is 32mm!

They are some bonkers dimensions. Im amazed it picks up so well.

That must have been when Eric Loxton was making their good stuff? 20 years ago they were making some of the best looking and performing bats out there. I had a V800 Ultimate (the original version with the two circular scoops taken out of the back), and loved it, until we went on a cricket tour and it got stolen! Its a shame these traditional brands become a shadow of their former selves - same with Duncan Fearnley and Stuart Surridge... although I did see someone at nets tonight rocking a new DF. Might take a closer look at the weekend.

It's crazy mate. They both feel so light for the weight, but then there is a large scoop at the bottom and the handles are big or very big by today's standards.

Love seeing old bats out there! Yeah it was probably 25 years ago or more, loads had them round here as you could just go to the factory.
