I'm glad I dont have to try and stop some of those balls.

It's great that the teams make footage like this - really fascinating to see just how good they are up close

Can Banton play shots through the off side or is it all moo territory?

Banton is clearly a class white ball player, but it would be good to know of he has an all round game with an eye on the red ball stuff.

I may be in the minority here but I think my favorite shot from the 2 videos is the Labuschagne run down to third man

From what I have seen he is a far better t20/odi player, but can still score in red ball cricket, pretty much a jason roy. I did see Vaughan saying he think Banton should give up his IPL contract to play county cricket as he thinks he could slot in at 6 if pope moves up the order.

Yes, Pope has batted his whole career at 6 (apart from his first go at Test cricket, classic England...) and has just made his maiden Test match hundred batting there. The logical thing to do is to move him up the order to get another biffer with a mediocre (albeit a small sample size) first class record in!

Michael Vaughan is a tool!

Vaughan is an attention seeking idiot since he retired. Loved him as a cricketer but as a pundit he takes notes from the Katie Hopkins manual.

Banton to me looks like he has shots all round the wicket, have a watch of some of his Blast innings and he's not just a legside biff merchant. He might well develop into a Test batsman long term but he is already good enough to be in consideration for the England T20 side I reckon.

Somerset rate Banton as a red ball talent too, the trouble may be if he ends up a fixture in the white ball teams he'll never play much first class cricket, a la Roy/Buttler. Hard to see him making it in tests if that's the case, but he's definitely got the all-round game of he gets the chance to develop his long form batting.

Amazing how white ball cricket can mess with good technique!

I know it's a different format, different wickets and allround different circumstances but that net session was the same season he has come out and said he averaged 9 in 1st grade cricket isnt it?

Perhaps his change in technique has helped him overall.

On a technical note, other than opportunity to play red-ball cricket, why can't some batsmen hit fluidly on the off side? Physiological - different muscle group engagement? Hand-eye coordination? Vision - difference in left v/s right eye and the angles?
