Have to agree with procricket.

Traditional but not bulky, with canes, smaller top hat as possible! Thick straps but not too long. Not white padding inside, looks crap after a game or two, whitish design with minimal colour.

Split gloves with pittards.

Yeah im gonna agree with Dave (procricket) too. Nothing flash im a big fan of plainish softs nice big towelling on the wristbands of the gloves. Less is more as they say!

With the pads prefer the traditional cane with a modern twist to them a few flat sections.

I think your lucky as you could incorporate a V in both the gloves and pads

as a soft's nut i have found the pro's  i talk to are more bothered  with pads than bats.

makes sense relay a good batsman would find the middle of any plank but to find good protection that looks and feels right is harder than finding a bat.

i can try on 100 pads and i think you do not grow into pads so to speak they either seem to fit right or not.

in my kit bag my pads are more important than bats if that makes sense.

feel right, play right

On softs i feel its all about comfort and flexibility, if both feel right then that's it sorted although if it was only that simple. Gloves i find can at times have too much protection and don't feel comfortable or flexible, ant the same can be said for pads too bulky and rigid which is no good at all.

Gloves i find sausage style work best for me and stick pittards on them and that's pretty much sorted although i like good protection but i don't want that to mean they are bulky etc. As in terms of cosmetics I'm not that hard to please, i like the basic white and silver look although i also like some of the bolder looks and colours like the 2008 kook beast gloves.

Pads well thats a whole different ball game, what i want is a 2 strp version thats is fitted but flexible and in no way rigid like some 2 strap pads. If you can design that then your onto a winnner.

i have seen a form that stops a 9mm ballistic round at 5 meters and is light as air and very thin not sure what it called but tom seems to know about it to.

would cost and it was very flexible  and no thicker than 10 cm.

and it was not kevler lined either.

i suspect it is part of the future it can be moulded into a pad og that i'am sure and would replace the morrants in both looks and even lightness and you can still get a traditional looking pad

yes sorry just getting very exited about this foam sorry i spell like a ape but i suspect this form could and might just bring some of the pads making back to England but it will cost a bomb but if somebody offers lighter pads than you have ever used with flexibility like no other and the fit you wanted maybe people would pay a bit more.

sorry vantage this is your page

I'm all for bringing back manufacturing to the UK however the costs need to appeal to a broad range of people rather than the select few who can afford it.

yes but like morrants which originate from Germany it can and i suspect it will be done within 2 years(call it a hunch)

there are many advances in cricket bats but in my eyes pads and gloves have been overlooked for so long and with some of the soft's i have seen there is a big market for a real revolutionary product. aero and puma tried but failed yes they made lighter pads but in my eyes there is room for a product that will like morrants before them but they were just the start and nobody took the mantle.

once again i'am sorry vantage for this in your section mate
