Getting your feet moving
« on: April 13, 2010, 02:39:39 PM »

In the past I have always been able to move my feet to the ball, this year however in nets they have been put in concrete. Any tips on how to get your feet moving again now it's getting closer to the season I want to try and get this solved.

Thanks in advance

Joe

  • Clear your mind, stay still and watch the ball

doing SAQ's is a good move for training

I would try and get some throw downs before you go into the net making sure you are right on the balls of your feet and your eyes are going to the pitch of the ball, sounds as if your balance at the crease isn't right yet. It may all totally change when you get out in the middle! Indoor nets can be unreliable as all the bowlers come on to the bat much quicker and typically bowl from 18 yards...

Cheers guy will try both of them. Our first game is Saturday so early season I'm going to try and bat for as long as possible and get into some form.

try having a trigger movement just before the ball is bowled. Alot of guys favour the slight forward press, though I like the back and across movement with my back foot.

My trigger movement it to move forward as you've described, occasionally causing me to be LBW. However this has disappeared early season, I have been in the garden with a tennis ball trying to ''lunge'' and get my feet moving, don't know what effect it will have so we shall see.

I use my trigger so I get my feet moving, I pretty much just widen my stance, just make sure your head is still when the ball is being bowled.
